Recycling is one of those things that many of us think we’re a lot better at than we really are. There are rules and regulations around recycling, which can make the process stressful. For many people, this is enough to keep us from recycling. What you probably don’t realize is that just your recyclable waste makes a big difference. Recycling doesn’t have to be a headache, and we want to help make it an easier process for you!

Look for the recycling symbol on your products

It can be difficult to know which items can and can’t be recycled. The easiest way to tell is to check for the recycling symbol on your trash. If there isn’t a symbol, it unfortunately can’t be recycled using conventional methods. If you want to take the extra step, you can take glass to be recycled separately, as well as look up services to help you recycle those hard to recycle items. But ultimately, you can make things easier by trying to just buy products with an easy to recognize recycling symbol on them.

Have a separate bin for your recycling

If you are new to recycling, you may not have an easy place to store your recycling before bringing it out to the dumpster on your curb. We’ve seen a lot of creative ways to store this recycling, but we would recommend just picking up an extra bin for your recycled waste! Having a dedicated place for it will motivate you to actually recycle, instead of just throwing things out.

Switch to reusable products

If recycling is overwhelming to you, a great way to cut down on the amount of recycling you have, is to aim to use reusable products whenever possible. Products such as a reusable water bottle, canvas grocery bags, and reusable coffee filters will cut down on your waste, as well as things like plastic bottles that you would normally be recycling.
